Thursday September 15, was an exciting night for some Cooper-Young artists who displayed their artwork at David Perry Smith Gallery. There was a good turnout from friends, neighbors, and art lovers who all came to admire the art and enjoy the atmosphere. Here's a closer look at some of the artists who had their work displayed.

Thursday September 15, was an exciting night for some Cooper-Young artists who displayed their artwork at David Perry Smith Gallery. There was a good turnout from friends, neighbors, and art lovers who all came to admire the art and enjoy the atmosphere. Here's a closer look at some of the artists who had their work displayed.
Nick Canterucci

Nick Canterucci designed the 2011 Cooper-Young Festival poster. He has been a part of the Art Invitational since 2005, but has been going to the Festivals since 1990. He most enjoys the people, artists, and crafts. His favorite artists are Mel Spillman and Karen “Bottle” Capps.
Dan Spector

Dan Spector has been a part of the Art Invitational for about 20 years, but has been to all of the Festivals. His favorite part is the crowds. He said his most inspirational artist is Harry Callahan.
Darla Linerode Henson

Darla Linerode Henson has been a part of the Art Invitational for 18 years. She said she used to be in charge of the event and also ran the children’s art contest. She has been attending Cooper-Young Fest for 19 years and loves the art, music, and booths. Her favorite artist is University of Memphis Art professor Greely Myatt. Darla also decorated three of the 100 tiger statues for the U of M’s centennial celebration.
