Storm Tears Down Tree, Homeowner Narrowly Escapes Harm

Brandon Russell had a bad feeling about Tuesday's storm as it barreled through his neighborhood.
"I was watching the news because I have a child and a wife and they were in the other room," said Russell.
"So I figured I better stay awake than fall asleep on the couch"
A few minutes later, he heard weather forecasters talking about the straight line winds coming through the area. About that time he heard the wind ripping through his street on the 2000 block of Oliver.
What happened next, took him completely by surprise.
"I put my shoes on, sat up and watched and heard the wind coming. I looked out and saw the trees blowing really hard," said Russel. "I knew this big tree was looming over us something told me get
out of the room and as soon as I started walking it crashed behind me."
A huge tree, guarding the front half of his house, collapsed on the front room where Russell was just moments before. Left in its wake were broken glass, splintered wood, and concrete
pulled up with the roots of the massive tree.
"It's unbelievable, we are fortunate," said Russell
as he examined the damage that even stretched over to his neighbors house.
His neighbor lost a front porch to the same tree.
