New Ballet takes the Stage at Playhouse on the Square

Cooper-Young New Ballet Ensemble and School will be taking the stage at Playhouse on the Square this Thursday till Sunday.
Thursday, April 19, “Mosaic 3” a Latino and Hip-Hop dance mixture will be performed. The New Ballet will collaborate with Hattiloo Theatre, River City Concert band and special guest Joyce Cobb, starting at 7:00 p.m.
Beginning Friday, April 20th, at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, at 5:30 p.m., it´s the SpringLoaded time, a weekend full of dance performances featuring live music. The New Ballet Ensemble takes stage alongside special guest, the River City Concert Band. Rhapsody in Blue, a choreography by the late Dennis Spaight of Oregon Ballet Theater features a 30 piece band and solo piano (Arthur Hart). Also Fearless Mine, Ubuntu, El Rey de Harlem and more.
Sunday, at 2:30 p.m. its family time: the Beloved Classic Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev will be brought live on stage at this special matinee just for kids. In New Ballet's most popular children's performance, each character represents an instrument in the orchestra and each character has their very own style of dance, from Ballet to Hip Hop. Afterwards, a fun-filled cultural journey from Africa to Memphis will take place.
