We hear a lot of news about restaurant openings in Cooper-Young, but rarely about new service or retailers. The Polish Bottle at near the corner of Cooper and Young is the latest addition to those lesser new segments of C-Y businesses.
"The community has always been a great "neighborhood" environment. The majority of my clientel live in the downtown/midtown area so it was the ideal location for me, "said Felecia Scarpati-Lomax, owner of The Polish Bottle.
Scarpati-Lomax is a New York native that said she decided to open up her own nail salon because she is best in her own space. She moved to Memphis 16- years ago and thinks Memphis is a city filled with potential.
Director of the Cooper Young Business Association, Tamara Cook, said that the majority of businesses that move to CY do so looking to fill a niche they see lacking in the area... one they can successfully fill.
"Felecia has become a member of the neighborhood fairly quickly. She is a member of the CYBA and is participating in neighborhood activities. I think that she and her customers will be an ongoing asset to the business community, " said Cook.
The Polish Bottle's clientel consists of teachers, attorneys, nurses, doctors, students, politicians and housewives, according to Scarpati-Lomax. She is also already participating in Cooper Young Night Out with a theme as Ladies Night Out.
"Get pampered with us on CYNO and then have a good time at one of the restaurants in the neighborhood," said Scarpati-Lomax.
"We don't have a nail salon that is open to the public in the area. Businesses like Charm and The Polish Bottle should do well in CY with a some advertisement. I see the community, both residential and business accepting them fairly easily," said Cook.
The Polish Bottle offers full services for nail and skin.
"We do not offer services for artificial nails. We do serve customers with the Shellac or “Gel-manicure” that lasts 14 days, as well as deep cleansing facials and micro-dermabrasion for deeper treatment," said Scarpati-Lomax.
The Polish Bottle is located at 2163 Young Avenue.
