Imagine Vegan Finds New Home
By Greg Williams | MicroMemphis reporter
Cooper-Young’s favorite “animal-friendly” restaurant has found a new home. It is, quite literally, right down the street. Well, maybe left down the street. Imagine Vegan Café will reopen at 2299 Young Ave., which is less than 1/5 mile down the street from their old location.
“It’s always a load to move businesses, but that was one of the beautiful things about this place, it’s so close,” owner Adam Jeffrey said.
Last month, the owner of the building where the café was located decided not to renew the lease of the restaurant. Jeffrey said that “there were several spots” they were interested in moving, but only a few select places were in the Cooper-Young area.
“We specifically wanted our new place to be in Cooper-Young,” he explained. “This is our home.”
The new location of the restaurant is just down the road on Young, and will be moving into a more “feels like home” establishment, which is what the Jeffreys wanted. They succeeded. The new location is a house converted into a place for business. This is certainly not the first one of its kind in the area.
The previous business in this location was Fork It Over Catering, which specialized in event catering, as well as offering meals available for pick up or delivery. This was an added bonus to Jeffrey, as they will not have to worry about building one, or stress about transporting bulky kitchen equipment from one place to the other.
“Yeah, that was the other beautiful thing about this place. It has a full kitchen built right in,” Jeffrey said smiling.
The old location has closed for business and the Jeffrey hopes to have his new home ready and open for business “on or around April 5th.”
“We’ll try to have some sort of celebration or party to commemorate our new home,” he said. “After we open and get things up and running of course.”
The new location will feature the same menu items which can be viewed at www.imaginevegancafe.com
