Pre-festival clean-up
September 12, 2011
Nicole Blum/MicroMemphis reporter
In preparation for the Cooper-Young 4 miler this weekend, Cooper-Young Community Association board member Dee Boyland is asking neighbors and fans of Cooper-Young to come help beautify the neighborhood.
Boyland said, "Just bring gloves. We will provide water, trash bags and, hopefully, bananas, apples, or some type of snack."
This is an annual clean-up event, but with the turn out being smaller than expected, Boyland hopes holding the event before the Cooper-Young festival will encourage people to take pride in the neighborhood and the festivals celebrations.
Volunteering for this event is not limited to just residents of Cooper-Young. Anyone interested in helping the cause is encouraged to come out.
Boyland said, "We need all the help we can get. The more the merrier and the more helping, the more we can get done."
The neighborhood clean-up will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 5 pm. Volunteers should meet in the parking lot of Bluff City Sports.
Come out and keep Cooper-Young clean!
